Convert videos?

Post by Robert Poland »

Thorsten, There is a rumor that GraphicConverter can convert a .avi file to a .mp4 file. If so where do I get more info on this process. Hagen's manual has nothing on videos. TIA, Robert Poland - Fort Collins, CO

Robert, You might look at a program called "Fairmount" or one called "HandBrake" for conversion of video files. Video is so substantially different than bitmapped or vector images that I would personally not like to see it in my favorite GO-TO image manipulation program. G'day BuckyThe latest version of Quicktime Player and Quicktime Player 7 should play m4v clips. If it doesn't, you might try changing the name extension to mp4.If this doesn't work, there's a chance the file might be corrupt.RegardsSanta On 16/01/2012, at 8:31 AM, Robert Poland wrote:   On Jan 15, 2012, at 11:34 AM, Bucky Junior wrote:Robert,You might look at a program called "Fairmount" or one called "HandBrake" for conversion of video files.Looks like Handbrake might work. Santa,My name is not Bucky it's Robert.I trashed the 10 GB file and ran handbrake again. This time it created a 833 MB file, with no extension.Had to add ".mp4" to get Quicktime to open it.Seriously dents my confidence in Handbrake. I've been using MPEG streamclip from Squared5 < http://www.squared5.com/>  for years and have never had a problem.Tom On Jan 15, 2012, at 5:22 PM, Robert Poland wrote:   Santa,My name is not Bucky it's Robert.I trashed the 10 GB file and ran handbrake again. Works fine here but is probably a bit off topic. Have you tried looking at the preset options. aedan Sent from my sofa. On 15 Jan 2012, at 22:22, Robert Poland <rpoland@usa.net> wrote: > Seriously dents my confidence in Handbrake
