[Solved] Converting ppi to dpi?

I have a photo that is showing in GC as 450 ppi. The printer would like it in minimum 600 dpi. For the life of me I can't find a way to convert this to even see if I need to scan it again. I will welcome some help for this not so experienced photo editor :)

PS I should add that I was able to change the Mode of the photo from RGB to CMYK, but that didn't change the values under Size or Resolution.

Hi,

normally the printer driver automatically rescales the images to the required dpi. That is normally much faster because less data has to be transferred to the printer.

But just use Picture/Resolution to change it.

Thanks! You mean that ppi and dpi are interchangable, and I can increase the ppi without losing resolution for print use?

Yes, but increasing the resolution with recalculation does only increase the physical size but not the quality.

It sounds like I should be finding the original and rescanning the photo at a higher resolution to begin with, so it says at least 600 ppi.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

Yes, that is the nest approach.

As far as I know, each printer has its own maximum resolution, but you can also choose exactly what you need in the settings.
